What is “Wealth Mode”?

“Wealth” can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but in the end, I love a quote attributed to Henry David Thoreau, although there’s no proof he actually said it (good for him)! Nevertheless…

“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.”

— Henry David Thoreau (supposedly)

I’ve noticed that most people either spend too much and save too little, or save too much and spend too little.

Living at either end of that spectrum is problematic. When you spend too much, you’re letting “YOLO” take over and not preparing responsibly for the future. When you save too much, you’re not fully enjoying today.

Either state of being can hamper your ability to live in Wealth Mode, which is my way of saying you're living in such a way that fully enjoy what your money accomplishes for you today, while feeling confident about what your money will do for your future.

I believe that creating a financial plan is about running the numbers so you can strike the balance of optimizing your spending and saving over your lifetime.
